We had the chance to ask Marvin from Hawaii Events Unlimited a few questions. Check out the highlights below:

1) What inspired you to become a DJ, and how did you get started in the industry?

“All of our DJs in our team became DJs because of one thing, the love of music. We all started doing small events for friends and family and it just grew from there. Some of our DJs do weekly mix shows on the radio and some actually spin at clubs. I myself started out as a DJ but now I help manage a team. Started right out of high school over 25 years ago.”

2) When you’re not behind the decks at weddings, what do you like to do for fun?

“I can’t speak for all of our DJs but it’s always great when we are all together at an event or just having a meeting or having conversations over food. Can’t beat eating good food though. I think we all agree on that. “

3) What’s your favorite musical genre to play, and why do you enjoy it so much?

“Our DJs  like to spin a wide variety of stuff. Mostly Hip Hop and EDM type stuff. I, myself, have fallen in love with electronic music since the late 90s. Still listen to it till this day.”

4) Can you share a story about a particularly memorable gig you’ve had as a DJ?

“I’m gonna say the most memorable ones would be ones where we do something unique and ones that we see everyone is having fun at. We did one where we projection mapped a whole wall for a wedding. Definitely a unique and awesome wedding. The groom performed as a Jabawockee and the projection went with the music. “

5) What’s your favorite type of event to DJ, and what makes it so special to you?

“We like doing events that allow us to be creative. Creative with our lighting and music. We like to do unique things. The possibilities are limitless! As our slogan goes “One company, unlimited possibilities”! “
